Valentine's Day...

So our day started as making heart shaped pancakes.Then we went to the florists and got red roses w/babies breath,WooHoo!I went to Shoppers to get a pink strawberry cake,had to get down on hands and knees to find one last one all the way in the back on bottom shelf,hey,I was determined,grabbed cream cheese icing and vanilla icecream.I got three helium pink balloons with candy hearts on them,so cute,for my girls and bag of sour cream chips for son,so he didn't feel left out.

I always make the 13xwhatever pan for a cake,sometimes a bundt,but I decided I was going to make the two round layer cake to put in my glass cake plate.Well,there's something about these moist cakes,sometimes as you're frosting them,they kind of fall apart and this one ofcourse did,it was great we were laughing so hard,the poor cake looked pitiful and my daughter wanted sprinkle color balls on it and they weren't sticking they were just falling off and that made us laugh harder,(had to be there),anyway it tasted awesome.

Did you ever just stand and listen to the snow?Yep,when all is quiet,you can hear it falling.There are so many moments you have as a kid,when you grow up you don't take the time for,looking up at the sky,not at the sun,dodo.LOL I used to lay down in the grass and look up at the sky,clouds in the day,stars at night,how often do we do that when we are adults?I love just looking at ice on tree branches,crackling fire,listening to a clock tick,hearing rain on windows,the wind or even the windshield wipers,I used to make up a song with the rhythm of the wipers and laugh as we swayed our heads with them,oh yes,people are wierd,ha.

Sometimes we need to stop,look and listen,isn't it awesome hearing little kids giggle and laugh?

Enjoyed today...

I was so glad today just to chill,it was all a great blessing,so glad Christmas is over,though.I'm so tired and thoroughly enjoyed doing nothing today.In fact,I don't think I'll do a darn thing tomorrow.ha

Pre Christmas Day..

Christmas Eve,my daughter and I spent two hours making our yearly white chocolate pretzels.We melt white chocolate chips and dip the pretzels,then we add peanuts,I love honey roasted and red and green m & m's.We bag them up for the stockings.We buy various candies every year,count out the bags and put them in freezer bags for the stockings,also.I make my carrot cake every year,it's too addicting,so it's just for Christmas.I also make my turkey on Christmas eve day,so on Christmas I just have sliced turkey for sandwiches,chips,cut up cheeses and onion dip,soda and no cooking on Christmas,WooHoo!I cook a million things on Thanksgiving,so Christmas is an easy day.

Packing suggestion...

I am a yankee candle nut and love scents.In all my buckets in storage,I put yankee candles and potpourri,when you open the top it all smells wonderful,your stuff smells good and when you put it all out,your house will smell good.Makes it your smell already in the house.I'm into a scent of a home,tells alot about the person.Some homes have animal smells,yuck,I have a puppy,fish,gecko and parakeets,keep the cages clean and puppy accidents are cleaned right then.Nothing's worse than walking into a zoo smelling home,sets a thought about that person when you think of them.Some homes are cleaning agent smells,a certain cleaner,some are a certain potpourri or candle smell,when you smell it somewhere else you think of them.You can get fabreeze and spray your curtains,that helps,I just got the lavendar vanilla scent,yummy.You can simmer cinnamon,cloves,nutmeg,etc in a little pan of water,instant potpourri,don't leave it though,it can evaporate rather quickly.Scents go down into the pours of wood,ever smell a piece of furniture from being stored,you can get the scent out,wash it off,clean it with a wood wash,like Murphys Soap.Scents go into fabric,like curtains and carpets.Anyway,just remember the smell of your home is how many people think of you when you're not around,especially if it's a smoking home,scents are very powerful triggers in your brain.You know when as an adult you smell a scent that reminds you of a whole childhood memory or person.
