Leaf cookies

Oh my goodness, Hallmark has started Christmas movies already, doing the happy dance. No, it's not too early, never for Christmas. lol Anyway, we made peanut butter cookies yesterday, had cocoa and cookies while watching Hallmark last night.

It is too early to make our Christmas cookies already, so we made leaf shaped powdered sugar cookies today. My daughter said, "All these beautifully designed cookies we see online and ours always looks like these." :D I told her ours is done with love though, and taste good, if they looked all beautiful we'd hoard them and they wouldn't taste as good not being fresh. lol We love cooking together and have so much fun, esp at the holidays we get very excited.

Powdered Sugar Cookies

1 and 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
2 and 1/2 cups of flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar

1 cup softened butter, let butter sit out till softened
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond flavoring,(if you don't have any, just use vanilla flavoring)

We put the dough in the frig for a couple of hours covered, then roll them out to use the cut outs. Preheat oven, cook for 8 to 10 minutes on 350.

Powdered Sugar Frosting

Recipe on box,but I use about a box,one stick of butter,1 tsp vanilla and enough milk to make it your thickness, maybe a few tablespoons, but recipe will tell you and you can work it to your taste.Just remember a little milk at a time.

 Peanut Butter Cookies

Mix together the following dry ingredients:
2 cups Flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar

Then mix in with the dry ingredients the following:
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup shortening,(I use butter crisco)
1/2 cup stick of butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

Roll into little balls, crisscross with fork.Bake 350 about 8 to 10 minutes, till lightly brown on edges. After the cookies sit and cool a few minutes, they will get harder and then put on plate.
P.S. I usually use two sticks of butter instead of 1/2 cup crisco and 1/2 cup butter, unless I don't have so much butter. I buy butter in four packs at Costco, cause I use alot of butter. :D
